truedol Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any advice! I have been given a little netbook (Asus esee) by a friend but I am unable to get past the login and password stage of Peppermint and my friend doesnt remember what it is! Is it possible to get round this at all? I am led to believe the operating system is linux - i am only used to windows so this is totally alien to me. Thanks Quote
KenB Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS I am afraid that our policy doesn't allow us to assist with by-passing passwords. We have no way of checking that the computer is yours ( no implication here at all ). If the O/S is Linux this is available free. truedol Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Thankyou - I thought this might be the case. Never mind I will have to buy a new one. Quote
Plastic Nev Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 To add a little. It is Linux and one of the many free versions available. All Linux operating systems are free to download, install, and use. As is the case with all Linux that I have tried, you must use a password to start it up which your friend must have put into it and therefore only your friend knows it. As stated by Ken, we cannot help any more with password issues, sorry about that. Once you have resolved that issue though, don't hesitate to ask for further help if needed. Nev.
