Guest Clampet, Brian Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Source: Winlogon EventID: 1002 Description: The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted. Explorer is restarting without consistency. Windows SP3 is installed and the latest updates have been applied. Previously I was receiving a pop up error: Data Excecution Prevention has closed windows Explorer. After this Explorer.exe would restart. I turned off Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for Windows Explorer but the result is the same. The error no longer appears but Explorer.exe restarts. This issue is happening to three computers on my network. One computer I have left the DEP enabled to see if once a fix is found it will solve both problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
