Guest dan Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 The computer is a Windows 2003 Server, Standard, SP2, configured as file/print server on the domain. A couple of days ago, the server stopped responding to ctrl-alt-del to unlock the server, and remote access stopped working also. I feel like the problem has to do with too many terminal services sessions in use or something related to that, but I thought a reboot would clear that up. It didn't. After reboot, I'm back in the situation where I can't remote access the server (either on the lan or over the internet via RDP) and it will not respond to ctrl-alt-del. I'm obviously going to have to reboot again, but when I do, any thoughts on how I can troubleshoot this problem? Thanks.

You may have to perform a System State restore from your most recent backup.

So now my question is, won't my most recent system state backup reflect the erroneous settings, and therefore not help when I restore it?

If this is an easy question to answer then you'll get lots of replies. If it is not then you may need a sledge-hammer solution in the form of a System Restore. Of course you must select a backup that was taken before the problem occurred!
