Hey,

I am trying to connect a 7.1 surround sound system to my PC with the help of a USB sound card. Every combination of cables I use still does not produce sound through the speakers. A simple jack from the sub to the jack on my PC works in the front 2 speakers, but I lack sound in the others even when attempting to connect via the external sound card. Please advise.

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

I am not sure what you mean by "A simple jack from the sub to the jack on my PC" Do you mean a connection from the line out from PC to line in on the external sound card?

Or do you mean the USB to USB connection?

If it is the first, then I don't think you will get full outputs front and back.

If however it is the latter and you are using the provided USB to USB mini cable, you should get the full sound provided that both the computer and the computers sound card recognise the device is plugged in. Have a look in "Computer" from the start menu and see if it shows up there.

Have you looked at the set up in the sounds on your computer while the external card is plugged in via the USB lead?

Just go to "Control Panel" and the main Windows sound system should be there, also I see from the specs for the computer it has Intel HD, or the optional Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD. Whichever is there should also have its own controls within the control panel. What are you seeing there please.
