Hi, at the moment Im looking to buy a new laptop, and I have end up with these two:

ACER Aspire 5750G: 15.6" / Core i5-2450M 2.50Ghz / Geforce GT630M (2GB) / 8GB DDR3, 1333MHz / 750GB

ASUS K53SD-SX226D: 15.6" / Intel i7-2670QM 2.20GHz / NV GF 610M 2GB DDR3 VRAM / 4GB DDR3-1333 / 500GB 5400 rpm

which one better to buy? as the prices acer is cheaper than asus(about 100GBP difference), I will play games but not a lot (as I have xbox) but not all games you can play on xbox, thats why I am saying that I will play games on laptop, also I will watch 1080p films.

at this point i think I will buy the asus, as apparently 8gb of ram in laptop is useless, as I will not use it for high quality video editing and etc. as windows 7 uses max up to 4gb of ram, so I dont really see the point of those 8gb of ram.

2. but in asus the nvidia 610m is much worse comparing to 630m, as 610m is in 3rd class and 630 is higher 2nd class by http://www.notebookcheck.net, as also it has only 64bit memory bus comparing to 128bit in 630m.

3. but in asus the i7 is much better comparing the i5 in acer, so I think that CPU may help for GPU in asus to play games at high quality, or not really?

or is it better to get the cheaper acer? as it has an 750gb better GPU but worse CPU comparing to asus...

please help me, tell me your opinions, as I dont really know which one to choose...

Thank you in advance

Hi and welcome to ExTS

windows 7 uses max up to 4gb of ram, so I dont really see the point of those 8gb of ram.

This statement is wrong.

32 bit systems will utilise 4GB RAM max however - if the system has 8GB RAM then it must be a 64 bit system.

64 bit systems process data much faster than 32 bit.

If the Asus has only 4GB RAM - is the OS 32 bit ?

I don't think you will see much difference between the i5 and the i7 CPUs

The Acer seems to be the better option in my opinion.

( I am biased a bit as I have had an Acer laptop for about 4 years with no problems :) )

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Hi a quick look at specifications shows that the Acer is 64bit with Windows 7 installed. Have a look here at the specification=

However be careful with the Asus, although from what I can find it is capable of running Windows 7 64bit, it may not have it installed and only has a DOS system on it.

Have a look here regarding the specification.=

In all though with both being capable of running 64bit operating systems, if they are installed then the 8GB of RAM is OK.
