Start Windows Installer Service in debug mode

Hi,

I am getting an errror in the event log, event ID 11708: Product

Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers -- Installation failed. To

make sure it isn't the windows installer service, I successfully

installed and uninstalled another application. However, I cannot

figure out what is causing this error, and since this is run from

within Symantec Backup Exec, I am not sure which installer is trying

to run.

Is there a way to add an option to the Windows Installer service like -

debug to set the service in debug mode, attempt the install, and then

retrieve to log to find out why this is occurring?

Thanks.

Kevin

RE: Start Windows Installer Service in debug mode

Hello,

Are they using a MSI package?

Use msiexec.exe /? from a cmd prompt

There should be logging options to set for various levels of detail.

Thanks,
