Guest AlterEgo Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Hi all, W2K3 Enterprise, SP 2. In the last week or so, my server has been shutting down. There are no errors in the event log prior to shutting down. Upon restart, I get a WINS error and more importantly a DCOM errror. I terminal service into this server to do all my work. WINS isn't a big issue for me, but DCOM is because without DCOM, I can't terminal service into the server. DCOM: Event ID: 10005 DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service RDSessMgr with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server: {A6A6F92B-26B5-463B-AE0D-5F361B09C171} WINS: EVENT ID: 4165 WINS has encountered an error that caused it to shut down. The exception code is the second DWORD of the data section. Check previous event log entries to determine a more specific cause for the error. Re: WINS I've deleted the WINS database per MS and allowed the OS to rebuild it, but still get the problem. I have not been able to find anything on the DCOM issue. DCOM is my priority right now. Thanks, Bill
