problem opening documents

anyone know how to fix this, if i try and open a document online it will ask me whet programme i want to open it with, no matter which i chose it opens it to look like this alien writing, example below.......

this happens with any document i try to open online, even if its trying to buy postage labels from ebay. sometimes they say its a PDF file, others they say its a unknown file trype, but no matter how i open it i cant actually view it as its meant to be??

Maybe it's your font settings. Go to Fonts in the control panel classic view. Appearances and Personalization>Fonts in control panel normal view.

 

In the left pane click Font settings. Click on the Restore default font settings button and put a tic or check in the Hide fonts based on language settings box. Click OK.
