Why has Recycled folder gone! on XP

After a bulk delete of large number of (Retrospect Backup) files from the

Recycle Bin, I noticed that the Recycled folder on each of my drive

partitions, has 'disappeared. Using Windows Explorer the only 'Recycle'

entry showing in the tree view is one entry for Recycle Bin at the end of

the tree view.

 

The Recycle Bin icon is still on the Desktop and a test delete of a file

caused it to go to the Recycled Bin. I have checked with another PC and each

of the drives has a Recycled folder showing in alphabetic sequence.

 

Grateful for any advice on what to do.
