adding machine into a rebuilt DC

Hi,

I have had to rebuild the DC and have used the same machine and domain

names.

I have a few client machines (vista) that log onto the domain.

Is there an easy way to re-connect these machine into the domain without

having the client (vista) recreate the user accounts. (ie where the vista

machine seems to create a new user firstname.001)

THanks

Re: adding machine into a rebuilt DC

Hello Aussie,

If you have had only one DC and that was crashed and you could not rebuilt

it from a backup, so that you start complete new, you have to add the computers

to the domain again and also have to create new usernames. This results in

the username looking like yours.

Even if all names during the new building of the domain are the same, the

domain, all machines and all accounts/groups etc. will get a new SID. That's

the reason that you now have accounts looking like you describe and that

a domain user have no access to the other profile.

Best regards
