Guest frederick Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 i have xp pro sp3. the current-user my documents is missing in my computer for all the limited accounts. they do appear properly for the administrators, however. if i change the limited accounts to administrator status, then all the users' documents show up. if i add a new limited account, no my documents appear. i have found several articles discussing this, or something similar, but they don't seem to help. i have tried: looking at docfolderpaths kathy's korner tweakui (the option to show them doesn't appear when i'm logged on as a limited account but is there for an administrator) there's another thing to fix, too, but i don't know if it is related or if it's better in another question. shared documents appears for all the users, but it is listed as just documents. please help. fred

Seems this is by design that non-admin user accounts cannot see their own and other user's Documents folder in My Computer.
Guest frederick Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Re: my documents missing in my computer maybe you're right. i could have sworn that i have seen it before, though. maybe it depends on what version it is? Guest frederick Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 RE: my documents missing in my computer just an update. i was able to get shared documents to work correctly. i went back through all the things that i'd tried and found that correcting all my desktop.ini files to the info here http://computers.douglasthrift.net/winxpfaq/#faq3_shared_documents fixed my shared documents problem. now my computer shows shared documents rather than just documents. limited users still do not show their own documents folder in my computer, however. i wonder why. it seems as if it could be a security problem, but i have complete access to it. i'm stumped. fred "frederick" wrote: > i have xp pro sp3. > > the current-user my documents is missing in my computer for all the limited > accounts. they do appear properly for the administrators, however. if i > change the limited accounts to administrator status, then all the users' > documents show up. if i add a new limited account, no my documents appear. > > i have found several articles discussing this, or something similar, but > they don't seem to help. > > i have tried: > looking at docfolderpaths > kathy's korner > tweakui (the option to show them doesn't appear when i'm logged on as a > limited account but is there for an administrator) > > there's another thing to fix, too, but i don't know if it is related or if > it's better in another question. shared documents appears for all the users, > but it is listed as just documents. > > please help. > > fred
