Start Menu Folder Redirection working - almost

With the great help from these Technet forums, I've gotten my TS folder

redirection working to point my users to a cust Start Menu. My only issue now

is finding a way to get rid of the Startup folder that gets created when I

login with a normal user account. It also adds the test user's account to the

ACL list permanently too. Is this expected behaviour?

I don't know of way of getting rid of the start up folder. is it

critical that it's not there? As for the ACL modification, that is not

expected behavior. Do you have permissions set correctly for them to be

able to minimally read from the folder structure?

Re: Start Menu Folder Redirection working - almost

After doing some snooping around I found that the Startup folder (as well as

Accessories) appeared to be getting loaded from the Default Users profile. I

tested deleting the folders from Default Users and that did the trick.

I also found that there were Create Files / Create Folders permissions on

my Custom Startup menu. I removed them so that Users had just Read and

Execute. The menu still loads fine as well.

I had a problem with a third-party application that installed itself from a

web site via a Java vm. At the end of the install, it puts a shortcut on the

user Desktop as well as the Custom Start menu. By changing the folder

permissions to Read and Execute the shortcut is not created but the program

still runs fine. I didn't want a shortcut put on my custom Start menu that I

didn't approve and test.

I'm just about finished with my configuration and ready to deploy my newly

minted server. One last thing that still alludes me is how to remove the

Synchronize option from the Windows Explorer Tools menu. I've disabled

Offline Files but I'd sure like to remove the menu option some way.

Thanks again for your help with my issues.
