Guest Alpha Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 One computer is driving its user nuts - it will simply not retain folder view settings in Explorer. All the usual methods have been employed - TweakUI, Views tab on Folder Options, Save User settings tweak from Kelly's Korner, and deletion of Bags and BagsMRU keys in the ShellNoRoam section of the registry. Nothing seems to work. Only thing we found was that the deleted registry keys would be regenerated at boot - and then opening Explorer it is found that the view has reverted to Tiles and sorted By Name which the user does not want! This started last week on a fully updated Windows XP Pro SP2 machine but no system settings modified in months. Inexplicably seems to have started after the monthly CHKDSK /F was run. We don't know if that is related in any way. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. TIA Alpha ------
Guest Alpha Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Re: Folder view settings revisited - again We also used the tweak, also from Kelly's Korner, for increasing customizations to 8000! Still the view resets itself to system default of Tiles and sorted by name every boot!
Guest ju.c Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Re: Folder view settings revisited - again Use this VBScript to set your folder views: Folder View Master by MS-MVP Keith Miller (no homepage anymore) http://mysite.verizon.net/res18hr7/FVM3.zip or http://members.home.nl/alsdewiedeweerga/Scripts/FVM3/FVM3.rar Just follow its directions. If you want to master folder views too, just ask. ju.c "Alpha" <alpha@do.not.respond> wrote in message news:uB6tkBJKJHA.4772@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > We also used the tweak, also from Kelly's Korner, for increasing > customizations to 8000! > Still the view resets itself to system default of Tiles and sorted by name > every boot! > > >
