Can two different users see/respond to emails sent to same alias email address?

Hello. My organization has a large number of customer service queries that both my business partner and me need to take turns responding to based on which of us is in town and which of us is on deadline with one of our projects. We don't want to set up a separate user account for that address (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***), because we both get a large volume of email to our own accounts as well every day, and we'd be logging in and out and switching between email accounts constantly. This would be a hassle. Someone mentioned to me they thought there was a way to do this using a Distribution list? I tried
