Hi suarezlfc,

That error is not good news...it means your registry is corrupted. What happened before your shut down or rebooted the last time it worked? Did you run a registry cleaner? Install new software? Have an error? Or was it pretty normal? THis could be related to hardware, but we'll try to recover your registry first.

Is this for WIndows XP? It is in your profile, but I want to confirm. Please boot and start tapping F8. A menu will appear...select Safe Mode then press Enter. Can you boot into Safe Mode? If not, repeat, except select "Last Known Good Configuration" and boot that way. Did that get you into Windows?

Hi suarezlfc, to save etavares a second or two of time, yes he does mean another computer and one that is OK. Also here is a photo of two different types of flash drive and it is one of these he means.

I have came across a master dvd 4 my computer but it will reset my computer to factory settings is that an option?

Sorry...the email system is usually reliable, but I just got the first notification you replied today. To do a remote system restore, we really need the tools we will install on a USB flash drive. I'm not sure what country you are in to post a link, but they are relative inexpensive.

We can reset to factory settings, but you will lose all the data and programs on the computer. If you want to do that approach, it will guarantee a working computer. You will lose any programs that were not installed on it when you purchased it, any documents, music, videos, pictures, etc.

There is one other approach we can try. Are you able to boot to a command prompt if you tap F8 repeatedly when you see the windows logo and select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" from the resulting menu? You'll know you are there when you see a screenw with C:\> or something similar and can type on the screen if you press the keyboard.

Hello, suarezlfc.

Try this please. You will need a USB drive.

Download http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/unetbootin-xpud-windows-latest.exe & http://noahdfear.net/downloads/bootable/xPUD/xpud-0.9.2.iso to the desktop of your clean computer

  • Insert your USB drive
  • Press Start > My Computer > right click your USB drive > choose Format > Quick format
  • Double click the unetbootin-xpud-windows-387.exe that you just downloaded
  • Press Run then OK
  • Select the DiskImage option then click the browse button located on the right side of the textbox field.
  • Browse to and select the xpud-0.9.2.iso file you downloaded
  • Verify the correct drive letter is selected for your USB device then click OK
  • It will install a little bootable OS on your USB device
  • Once the files have been written to the device you will be prompted to reboot ~ do not reboot and instead just Exit the UNetbootin interface
  • After it has completed do not choose to reboot the clean computer simply close the installer
  • Next, download rst.sh and save it to the flash drive you just installed xPud on.
  • Remove the USB and insert it in the sick computer
  • Boot the Sick computer
  • Press F12 and choose to boot from the USB. If that doesn't work, let me know. Booting from USBs is different depending on your BIOS.
  • Follow the prompts
  • A Welcome to xPUD screen will appear
  • Press File
  • Expand mnt
  • sda1,2...usually corresponds to your HDD
  • sdb1 is likely your USB
  • Click on the folder that represents your USB drive (sdb1 ? you may need trial and error to find it.)
  • Confirm that you see rst.sh that you downloaded there
  • Press Tool at the top
  • Choose Open Terminal
  • Type bash rst.sh
  • Press Enter
  • After it has finished a report will be located on your USB drive named enum.log
  • Remove the USB drive and insert back in your working computer and navigate to enum.log

Please note - all text entries are case sensitive

Copy and paste the enum.log for my review

I'm in the US. There's a couple of approaches we can use to force it to boot from USB, however they are a bit complex, so we'll start with the simpler approach. Reboot your computer with the xPud USB in it. Look at the screen when you turn it on. You should see a menu saying "Press F-12 for Boot Menu" or "F9 = Boot Options" or something like that. Press the indicated key that it says on your screen, use the arrow keys to highlight USB and then press Enter. Did that work?

Im now on a page says welcome to xpud,i have options at the left hand side, which r home, menu, file and settings, whats next?
