Hi, the clue is in the damaged wiring as a first point to look at, try a borrowed headset with good cable first. If the buzzing is still there, you may need to check sound system wiring inside the PC isn't close to the power supply.

Are you also running the sound from the motherboard sound chips, or from either a sound card or graphics card sound out port?

I am not sure. I will test it out on my xbox for the wiring thing, and I have it plugged into the 3.5m jack things and the usb into one of the 3 or 4 usb slots at the back of my pc.

Hi, what type of headset is it, does it also have a microphone as well? If all you need is sound there should be no need of a USB connection as that may be the source of the buzzing.

Let us know about the headset type and how you get on with the checks please.

I'd also like to point out that all my TurtleBeach headsets have a buzzing noise, it's not really loud but noticeable while nothing is playing. It's a feedback loop because of grounding issues which the UK has. It was something I read along time ago when I tried to find a fix for the same problem. Or something silly like that. Spend something like £300 on a bit of tech and it will fix it.

Most TurtleBeach headsets have the USB for power. Inbuilt mic w/ headset. Green jack, pink jack and USB for MOAR power.
