stopped backup, now half of my apps are gone

two days ago I set up a onedrive for my college, and I was just skimming through it not really paying attention. and it so happened that I didn’t turn off syncing for my documents, desktop and pictures. I had been trying to figure out how to stop it since then, because onedrive doesn’t let me untoggle these specific folders. I googled how to fix this yet again, and then followed the instructions. I untoggled the backup for these three folders and I noticed that my desktop lost half of it’s apps, yet they remain on my onedrive (I was trying to remove these folders from my onedrive without delet
