Guest mugentuner Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Hi, Using the built-in Backup application in XP Pro, does anyone know what folder the backup reports are saved in as default and in what format (text file e.t.c.)? I can run the application fine but was wondering how to check the logs at a later date. Thanks

If you want to save a log, you must load the log into notepad. Notepad will save the log in the same folder as the backup file unless you tell it otherwise. Jim

Unless of course, when you click REport button, you choose Save As and give it a location of your own to store it in, such as the same folder where the backup file went to. So, the default location for log files is: c:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ntbackup if I worked throught that correctly. So, any and all backups do get a logfile and are located as above unless you change the location to send it to. To be sure I'm right, I just saved a System State with it; something it was time to do anyway. HTH
