Issue with the language bar in windows

I've noticed that if I set the input language to japanese, the language bar does not appear to be aware of me pressing the alt+romaji keys on a japanese keyboard. This shortcut is for toggling direct kana input, and the language bar itself has a button to toggle this, but it does not update when I use the keyboard shortcut.Is there a way to change this, so I can use the language bar as an indicator of whether or not I have kana direct input enabled or not?(Note: this is about the 'old' IME. it does update the kana indicator AFTER I type a character by which point there is no point because I ca
