Access Denied (policy_denied): when trying to access the Internetthru IE on Win2k3 TerminalServer?

 

Hello,

I administrate various Terminal Servers.

On one Server I would need to call on support from the company

responsible for a special application.

Now it seems that it is impossible to get into the Internet.

Instead of getting the proxy authentification dialog window I get a

window with the following message:

 

Access Denied (policy_denied)

Your system policy has denied access to the requested URL.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

 

Is it possible to get around this?

Or is it a domain policy where I cannot to anything about it?

Or is it still a different reason, that is a misleading error message

perhaps?

 

Do you, Vera, have any suggestions?

Sounds to me like the proxy settings were changed at the proxy server.

yes you are right.

 

I just found the solution and wanted to leave it here.

About 6 weeks ago they changed the policy of the proxy.

Within the domain there are Admin-Accounts and User-Accounts.

With Admin-Accounts you get to administrate servers with user-Accounts

you get into the internet.

For the servers I use my admin account, of course.

Formerly a dialog window would pop asking for authentication

credentials with the proxy when trying to get into the internet with

an account that had no permissions for the proxy.

Now the proxy just checks the permissions and either allows or denies.

 

I didn't know yet about this change and didn't know where this message

would fit in.

Has nothing to do with server or terminal server.

A work around would be, perhaps, to run IE with runas as the domain

user.
