KenB Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS This sounds like a motherboard or PSU problem. Take a look here and follow the steps: http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=246 I am assuming that you get no POST beeps. If you do - let me know the sequence ( e.g. 1 long 2 short ........) KenB Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Hi i took out a 8pin connector from the pc an it seems to keep running now, but i hear no beeps You will only hear POST beeps if you have an internal speaker connected to the motherboard. If you DO have a speaker - and you are getting no beeps at this point then your system is not getting past the Power On Self Test process and there is a problem with either the m/board or PSU. If no internal speaker then we continue as follows: If your system is stable and not crashing / restarting then add just one component / connection at a time and switch on after each addition. If the system remains stable the add one more - testing after each addition. If the system crashes - remove the last added component/connection and try again. If it remains stable you have found the cause of your problem. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! KenB Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I suspect that this may be a PSU problem. You will have a spare molex connection. I suggest that you get a molex to 4 pin adapter click here And give this a try. Or If you have a spare 4 pin connection from the PSU try this Or If you have a spare PSU give this a try. bradleyg11 Posted June 23, 2012 Author Posted June 23, 2012 (edited) yes that seems similar but what do you do with the other end? once ive put in the 8 pins, oh and im very sorry my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 SLi DDR3 Motherboard sorry for giving you the wrong mobo Edited June 23, 2012 by bradleyg11 Quote
KenB Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 The two molex connections fit onto 2 spare female Molex connections from the Power Supply Unit. There is no guarantee that this will fix the problem - but for a few pounds it is worth a try if you don't have a spare PSU.
