Minimizing Web Pages

I am running Windows XP Home with SP3.

When I minimize a web page, the notification icon goes to the bottom of my

desktop (between the start button and the clock). This web page SHOULD NOT

change. However, when I start a new web page (for example, that is on my

desktop, or is in an e-mail message) the minimized web page changes to the

web page I just started. I want the prior web page to remain.

This worked the way I want until about three weeks ago. Then the MINIMIZED

web pages changed automatically when a new web page was started. How would I

make minimized web pages stay the same until I terminate them?

TIA

Sincerely,

Barry Karas

In Internet Explorer: Tools | Internet Options | Advanced. Uncheck: Reuse

windows for launching shortcuts.

If still no joy:

Close all programs. In Windows Explorer, or the Control Panel:

Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.

Scroll down to {NONE} Internet Shortcut and select it.

Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.

Select 'open'.

Click Edit.

Uncheck: Use DDE

I use Mozilla Firefox 3 as my browser, not Internet Explorer. I do have

Internet Explorer -- I used it in the "old" days when Firefox 1 and 2 did

not work on some web pages.

Umm. maybe you should have stated that in the original post..

Click Tools, Options, Tabs, select "New pages should be opened in:" "a

new window".
