Why aren't files in the Recycle Bin automatically deleted?

More specifically, I set the file to automatically delete after a day in Storage Sense , but even though several days have passed, the file in the Recycle Bin has not disappeared. What does that mean? Am I doing something wrong or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks for readingP/s: Because of an error, I cannot insert an image to illustrate my problem.
