File Explorer taking forever to load image previews, and upon clicking returns "Not Responding"

This is for all image forms, PNG, JPG, SVG, etc. Upon opening a file containing them, they remain and the green loading bar appears in the address box. Upon right clicking, single clicking or trying to open an image, file explorer returns "Not Responding" and has to be closed via task manager.Sometimes, after significant waiting this issue just stops.
