How to turn off Windows security whilst adding mapped network drive

We are trying to connect our Windows 11 laptop to our Mac server on the network. Even though other devices are visible on the network, we can't see the server. We've tried adding through "map network drive" but Windows security doesn't allow the credentials for the server to authenticate. Is it a matter of disabling the security to allow this?
