Yes it should show the status of the KMS client machines as well as the MAK

machines

Re: KMS count for windows 2008 / Vista

Meinolf and Darell, many thanks,

I have installed VAMT and I really see KMS clients status.

The only problem now that in VAMT I see 6 licensed windows 2008 KMS

clients, but slmgr script give me count number "5" and I still don't

understand why.

Re: KMS count for windows 2008 / Vista

Hello Igor,

Check each of the 6 clients to make sure they are all pointing to the same

KMS host machine.

Check the KMS Host's machine event log for the KMS event logging.

Verify that all 6 machines contacted that KMS Host machine.

Are all 6 physical machines?

Are any of them virtual?

Re: KMS count for windows 2008 / Vista

Hi Darrel,

All machines are physical, all contacted to same KMS server (actually we

have only one KMS server)

Also, we have 4 Vista mashines and I see them contacted to KMS host too (in

KMS event log ), so generally speaking I expect to see counter "10" ...

Hello Igor,

Do you see all the records in the KMS event log from each machine?

Export that list, check the CMID's and make sure they are all different.

Re: KMS count for windows 2008 / Vista

Darrel, many thanks !

Now I found the problem - some computers have same CMID (we use imaging

software)

Now question - how I can change CMID without reinstalling windows 2008 ?

I found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929829 , but I hope probably windows

2008 have something different ?

You need to run sysprep with the generalize option.

Re: KMS count for windows 2008 / Vista

Darrel,

so, if I have windows 2008 installed without sysprep - the only option is

to reinstall them ?

Meantime I run slmgr.vbs –rearm and it changes CMID and KMS count increased,

but probably I will meet new problems ?
