quicklaunch or slowlaunch?

Hi,

lately I'm quite annoyed by the quicklaunch, in fact if I don't open it for

long time it takes almost 1 minute to open.

Of course avg8 plays its role on it but I wonder if someone had the same

problem and was able to relieve it.

I assume you're not "opening the QuickLaunch" but you're clicking an icon

located on the QuickLaunch Bar. If so, a few further details would be

helpful, e.g.

- Do you experience the delay with all items on the QuickLaunch Bar?

- What happens when you invoke the same application by its icon on the

Desktop?

- Does the delay happen in Safe Mode too?

It would be a good idea to launch the Task Manager and to tick the

Performance tab. What CPU loading do you get during the delay? If it is

close to 100, which process consumes so much CPU time? You can tell by

examining the active processes under the "Processes" tab.

Well, I click on the double arrows that open the popup of the quicklaunch

I don't know why I didn't think about it myself, I must be really tired

these days.

It turns out that the culprits are comodo defense+ and avg8.

If not permanently disabled defense+ still adds pending files to its list of

files and if the list grows big it drammatically slows down certain

operations.

On the other hand my quicklaunch contains about 40 links and avg, that is

gotten quite slower, takes a large amount of time to check them all.

Bah!
