My printer shows offline. The troubleshooter says to 'contact network administrator". It prints and copies but will not scan.

I have wireless hookup. It is working fine.. It is a new printer and is copying and printing fine . It will not scan and says it's offline and to contact the network administrator. I phone my internet provider but they say it's microsoft . I cannot see where I get a "Network configuration page" to see if I could see what the problem is. I want to speak with a person as I'm 75 years old and am fed up with this problem.
