i cant type in my windows search bar

hello, so I've just come back from an eight day vacation and i boot up my computer and everything is working fine except when i press the windows button and try to search within it it doesn't type but instead selects the apps shown within the window so i can no longer use the windows search bar for some reason the same happens when i manually press the search icon it doesn't open just flashes green and nothing happens
