windows 11 Laptop Slows While Using USB port to charge phone

My laptop significantly slows down while I'm using one of its fast charging USB ports to charge my phone. I have a thinkpad l390 i5 8th gen, and I've been using it for the last 5 years. A few years ago, I started noticing that while charging my phone through the usb ports, the laptops performance slows down significantly, everything becomes sluggish, browsers loading slow, mouse cursors move slow.
