Changing my local disk?

I was running out of storage for my pc and I'm pretty new to all this computer stuff so I bought another disk to increase my storage and with some help I installed it correctly and the pc knows its there but I can't seem to make things download into the new disk and I keep getting a notification saying I'm running out of storage even though I've got a empty disk. Is there a way to change were all my downloads go automatically? I've already tried switching the disks inside my pc which didn't work and I can't find anything about it online or on settings.
