Jelly Bean Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Hello and welcome. Please try one of the following to do a system cleanup and uninstaller: CCleaner - Home Revo Uninstaller - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Brigham Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 I have tried revo, to no avail. I have now tried Ccleaner which didn't work too. I tried TDSSkiller again with no result. I don't know how it got on there. I can't recall downloading it. It is something to do with facebook I understand, however I have never had anything to do with that. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I found this it maybe helpfull to figure out what is going on: http://www.downloadplex.com/Windows/Network-Internet/Browsers/yontoo_202737.html Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Brigham Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 I went to the site you gave me. It didn't tell me how to uninstall, so I installed it, and then uninstalled it. Neither the install or the uninstall altered the program. If you have any more ideas I will be happy to try them. Don't worry it seems to be inert. Thank you anyway for taking time to try to help. RandyL Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 What you are probably seeing is the shortcut to a program that no longer exists. Poorly written programs or uninstallers often leave behind things like shortcuts. Right click the program then select properties. You should be on the shortcut tab. If you select Open File Location it will take you to the folder that the shortcut points to. In this folder you should see all the files that are needed to run the program. Is there an exe or application file there? Is there an uninstaller file there? Don't delete anything there as it may be needed. I'm guessing that there might not be much in that folder. Glen Sibley Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Hi There, I do a system restore before downloading before downloding and installing any unknown programs from the internet. so I restored the system to the previous restore point and Yontoo plus some otheritems installed without my knowledgeall dissapeared. no data loss at all. system is fine. I would also advise of aninstall manager to facilitate uninstalling unwanted software . this also worked for the notorious Windows 7 Security Virue on my wifes laptop although the restore poin was 7 days back created by Windowd updates which had to be reinstalled Quote
