windows 11 screen brightness doesn't show up and performance reduction when unplugged from external monitors

I'm using Windows 11 23H2 on laptop, the screen brightness slider has disappeared. This has happened very often and I usually had to reset/fix windows in order to get it back. I usually use my laptop with 2 external monitors, which worked fine, and when using the laptop alone, there is a lot of issues like slower processing despite the laptop being plugged in (lags a lot in photoshop even on a 1000px x 1000px 72ppi canvas) and the disappearance of the brightness slider in the action menu.
