trouble with installing japanese

i would like to install japanese in this computer.

 

first, i go to controll panel to pick regional and language option. then i

click on language tab to install files for east asian languages. but then a

window pops up and says "please insert the conpact disc labeled 'windows xp

home edition sc-rom' into your cd rom device." and i don't have that cd.

how can i keep proceeding it??

Specify Source Path to XP Installation Files

Example in my sytem the SourcePath has a Data value of

C:\WINDOWS\options\Install

My I386 folder is located in C:WINDOWS\

I modified the Value data (double click SourcePath) deleting

"options\Install", leaving the Data value C:\WINDOWS\

You need to restart to effect the changes. Now everytime you need to do

simillar installs it won't prompt for the install CD anymore.

Note: It would be safer editing the registry after backing up the key (Edit

> Export).

You got pretty close to finished, then hit a major snag.

 

Only Windows knows which files it wants. You must show them all.

The easiest thing to do would be to give Windows what it's asking for -

the Windows XP Home installation disk (roughly $100 in the U.S.).

 

Otherwise, in order to follow Rey's instructions, you'll need to edit the

registry after copying the I386 folder for XP Home from somewhere,

like from your OEM recovery partition. Ask Search to find I386,

using "More advanced options," like, check system, hidden and sub.

Then, if Windows won't copy I386 because it's hidden, remove the

attributes using the command prompt: attrib -s -h I386 in the partition.

If you have an OEM recovery disc, it probably has the I386 folder.

Or from an XP Home installation CD - can you borrow one? After

copying all of the I386 folder, start > run > regedit and drill down.

 

There is probably a SourcePath value in the Setup key at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

In regedit, highlight SourcePath, click Edit, select Modify, and change

the ValueData to where you copied the I386 folder and all its contents.

If there is no SourcePath value in Setup, you'll have to create it.

Those are the Elder Geek's registry instructions at Rey's link. If you

put that together with Rey's post and this post, you could succeed.

 

So, be doki doki careful and do everything right, or buy the disc.
