why wont my laptop detect my headset microphone?

hello, My laptop, specifically, does not detect any mic plugged into the laptop. I've checked everywhere in the control panel, in the device manager it just doesn't detect a microphone plugged in. It detects my headphones but not the microphone connected to it. I've updated and searched for all new drivers related to sound and recording still no luck. I thought it would be a headset problem but it detects and works perfectly fine on the other laptops. AND NO ITS NO MUTED. I've searched for solutions all over the internet and no luck. I don't know what driver should be there or removed. So if
