pc49 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hi Guys. I can download a pdf file/document which is in Spanish. I am trying to save it (but it wont let me) so I can translate it into English. Is there an easyish way I can do this? It is rather an impotant manual. Thanks for looking, a reply would be more than welcome, Thanks. Pc49. Quote
RandyL Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hi pc49. I take it you can view the pdf after clicking the link but the "save" doesn't work within the pdf? Are you using Adobe Reader and is it updated? Also instead of opening the pdf file from the link have you tried right clicking the link and choose "save" or "save as"? pc49 Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks a lot for replying Randy, I am using latest Adobe reader X. I can read the document ok but I can find no way to save it and translate it. If I hear no more today I will print all the pages and then scan them, I think my printer has O.C.R. incorporated on it, another learning curve. Thanks for your time, Pc49 Quote
Synapse Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Any chance of a link to it so we can have a look? Quote

RandyL Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Right click the link and "save target as" or open the pdf and select this middle icon. pc49 Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks for helping so far,--but--how can I now translate it into English as it is still a pdf file?. pc49 Quote
Synapse Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Open the pdf, copy all the text to clipboard using "Edit">"Select All">"Copy" Then open your browser and go to http://translate.google.com/ Paste in your text from clipboard and click "Translate" All done, you can select all of the English text and copy to something like Word. I've just tried it and it worked ok for me, with a few odd looking words, let us know how you get on. Quote
pc49 Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Hi Synapse. Brill, I`m getting there. a couple of probs;- When I "select all" it only selects the single page showing on my monitor, it`s not the end of the world as I could do each page in turn. More importantly, in "google translate" it shows the Spanish & English versions. I do`nt really want to be printing both (the price of ink). Is there a way to save just the translated page?. I really appreciate your effort. Thanks. pc49 Quote
Plastic Nev Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Hi PC49, If it were me, I would again use copy and paste of just the English version to a word document and then print that. Or another way would be to use a screen capture tool and create a JPG image to be printed. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here. Synapse Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Not sure why you can't select the text in the whole document, it may be that we use different browsers. I've done a copy, as I had almost done it in checking it for you. Here's my version... http://www.4shared.com/office/UHAwiB4A/Document8.html? Hope that's ok for you. Quote
