Guest Wilhelm Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I sold my computer and removed the hard drive from it. However, I baught a new computer with seperate version of XP. I also added the 'old' hardrive as I have a lot of documents on it. However I am unable to retrieve the documents under the 'mydocuments' folder. Is this possible without booting from this drive?

Try creating a user profile using the same name and password used on your old computer. Log on with this profile, go to properties of the OldDrive_Driveletter:\Documents and Settings\YourOldProfileName. Go to the security tab and add the new_profile_from_new_computer to full access. You can copy and move at this point or log back on with new computer profile and try yo access the files or take ownership thru the properties of OldDrive_Driveletter:\Documents and Settings\YourOldProfileName. The Mean One
