Guest Jim in Cleveland Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I know this sounds pretty drastic but is there a way of disabling all group policies with one click of the mouse?! I'm troubleshooting a problem and for the life of me and I cannot find the GP that is holding this setting that is affecting a user configuration. I thought if I could stop all the group policies all at once, there would be no guess work in it. I would disable a global setting, make the necessary changes I need to make, then turn everything back on. The change would be on an XP computer in a 2003 domain environment. The issue I'm working on is I need to make a desktop change on a user profile. I've opened up the profile (.man to a .dat) and even gave the account admin privileges. But when I go to make a display change, it states, "Your system Admin disabled the display control panel". Right clicking on the desktop has also been disabled. I know it sounds drastic but let me knwo if it is possible.
Guest Dave Patrick Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Re: Disabling Group Policy all together Take a look at rows 433 - 437 on the "All" tab then in column G for the corresponding registry location. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7821C32F-DA15-438D-8E48-45915CD2BC14&displaylang=en -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Guest Phillip Windell Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Re: Disabling Group Policy all together Did you create new policies or modify the Default ones? Hopefully you did not modify the Default ones. Hopefully you created new policies,...unlink the policies from the OU and rthe Default Policies will take over and set things back to the original settings (at least for most things). -- Phillip Windell http://www.wandtv.com The views expressed, are my own and not those of my employer, or Microsoft, or anyone else associated with me, including my cats. ----------------------------------------------------- "Jim in Cleveland" <JiminCleveland@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:83A545A1-98B5-4900-840D-3FC14D718C59@microsoft.com... >I know this sounds pretty drastic but is there a way of disabling all group > policies with one click of the mouse?!
