Hi

The problem I have is particular to my edition of MS Word (2002?). Hard to describe this, but what happens whenever I type out a series of short dashes in Word (i.e. --------) and then use the return key, these dashes turn into a continuous black line that runs right across the page. Try as I might, I cannot change or even delete these lines. Worse still, there appears to be no explanation (or even a definition) in the MS Help files as what these 'lines' actually are. I'd be inclined to regard this issue as a mutation peculiar to my laptop, were it not for the fact that I managed to correct it on another PC of mine some 18 months ago. Unfortunately, I can no longer recall for the life of me what this solution was. Yes, I've remorselessly searched through as many MS Word menus as I can find - but clearly I've missed the one vital to sorting out this aggravating problem once and for all. So, I'd appreciate it if anyone can help me out here.

Regards,

Gray

I use XP Professional.

I have no idea either. Perhaps using System Restore or reinstalling Word might work.

Hi

I have Office 2010 but have managed to re-create what you describe.

What you are having problems with is Auto Format of Border Lines.

In earlier versions of Word it has been a pain.

You should be able to turn this off.
