Does Windows create logon events during sleep or hibernation?

I recently went on a trip and left my laptop in my room from morning till evening in sleep mode. When I got back I saw that my computer displayed a message saying my pin needed to be reset or something. I forgot to take a picture but I went looking around in the event log and saw these events during a time (1:43 PM) when I know I was out. Can windows create these events in sleep or hibernation mode or is this a good evidence that someone messed around with my laptop. The host seemed like a solid guy but there was another guy in the house and I don't want to write a bad review based off of inac
