No sound card detection after upgrading Windows

I recently bought a new dummy Laptop, a HP Pavilion ZV6000 to be precise, and wanted to use it. It had Windows XP pre-installed, but I knew Windows XP was too old for proper use, so I upgraded to a 64-Bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate. The laptop was certainly designed for Windows XP, as it only had 2GB of RAM, but I saw absolutely no hardware restrictions or compatibility issues, so I upgraded it. Before I upgraded, I tested the Laptop thoroughly, and found that it's speakers, Altec Lansing brand, were in perfect working order. They were detected and working fine.
