I am using Windows XP Professional.

How to 'hinernate' my PC ? I was doing it for my laptop. It had the

advantage of quick restarting my computer after doing complete power off. The

standby mode needs the computer to be kept ON.

I have a Dell and the keys on the keyboard are labeled, Fn + F1 =

hibernate and Fn+Esc = Standby. But then this my PC. I suppose your

documentation would help more since you gave us no help on what PC you

have. In power settings of Control panel you may see some help there.

I've seen there that I can set the 'close lib' function to put mine

to standby or shutdown.

See Windows Help and Support, Hibernate, Common tasks: Power Options

Right click the Desktop select New select Shortcut. In the Shortcut wizard

text box paste or type this line: C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe

powrprof.dll SetSuspendState S4 (if using WindowsXP and C: is the system

drive). Give it a name and you are done. When you want to hibernate the

computer click the shortcut.
