How do I remove the feed or stories from my task bar, but keep the weather widget?

I can't for the life of my understand why Windows is forcing these stories onto me I have no desire for them, but they seem to be intrinsically tied to widgets. Like windows knows we don't WANT feeds, but NEED widgets so they are piggy backing them on something far more useful.
