error message 0002:9A57

Trying to run an old Windows program, written only for the resolution 640x480

8, bit in Windows XP I get the error message 0002:9A57. Can some explain me

what is the problem ?

Have I to get a video card with the resolution 640x480 256 color available?

it is strange because running the program with the XP available

compatibilities it is possible to see the skecht that shows the input

geometry, but when I try to see the result graphics I get the error message

0002:9A57. With the previous Windows operating systems, untill to Windows

2000, the program ran.
