How do i get my input device working again?

My device will not record audio without a microphone and will not record through just the laptop. My input device is still my speakers, and the input volume is all the way at 100%, but it still won't pick up anything. It just shows 0% every time I try to test it. I can record on the recording app. Due to this issue, I can't record my lectures and also can't hear people during meetings which as a university student is very worrying. My laptop has access to all apps, and this issue suddenly arose without warning. pic wont upload.
