Computer turning itself off and closing all windows instead of going to sleep despite settings telling it to just go to sleep.

subject. this issue only started a few days ago and is extremely frustrating. at this point i'm just setting everything to never which seems extremely power inefficient (love how the power options are the meaningless "recommended," "better," and "best." these words MEAN NOTHING). i don't want to go to the bathroom with an open unsaved document only to come back and have to turn on my computer and lose any progress.
