My apps always split between my two (extended) external monitors when I dock my laptop and close the lid.

I have two external monitors. My settings are set that they are extended, which I want. Every time I dock my laptop and close the lid, the apps split between the two screens. Some go to the left (#1) monitor, which is my main display. Some go to the right (#2) monitor. I have to drag the apps over to #1. When I remove the laptop and re-dock, they split again. I cannot figure out why it does this. It does this pretty much anywhere I put my laptop on a docking station.
