Guest PocketRocket Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Running XP, SP3. Someone reset the UPS time to 15 seconds until reboot. Because the system can't find the UPS, it immediately shuts down. I have about 10 seconds to get to Control Panel and Power Managment before it shuts down. I tried with a boot from CD app, but it will not allow me to run any applicatons (like for power mgmt). Does anyone have a suggestion?

Does anyone have a suggestion? As soon as you can, press Windows Start-R and type powercfg.cpl and click the UPS tab. That should only take a few seconds. Or try starting in Safe Mode? -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Delete NOSPAM from the email address after clicking Reply.
Guest PocketRocket Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Re: Power Management Reboots PC I booted in safe mode, went to c:\windows\system32 and entered control powercfg.cpl. From there I was able to reconfigure the Power Options applet at my leisure. Rebooted and my frustrations went away. Thanks Terry.
