It seems to be a trend that admins and mods are replying to this, so I thought I'd join in! No, really, please do tell us anything you do or don't like or would like to see being changed. :)

I've just been wondering... USE DRUPAL!!! :P I love that program, and i think it could be extremely cool for you guys especially with the new idea of organising how-tos etc. It's got forums, blogs, classification systems, and a HUGE array of optional modules by the community. I just wish i could be bothered to learn how to skin it, don't think it's as easy as mambo for skinning :( although 1. i haven't tried, and 2. there's also a large array of skins out there.

The possibilities are endless with that wonder!

Pricey

P.S. doing swimmingly atm, just keep promoting ubuntu :P

Hi all

I have an idea for a daily News section from Daily Tech that could run something like this;

The main Forum header is News

A new post header in News could be selections from the latest IT/Hardware/Internet news etc.

An example

Title: Nuclear Labs "Hacked"

Sub Header: Two labs of America's top scientists have fallen for the oldest trick in the hackers' book.

DailyTech featured a blog yesterday on how the media frequently reports on so called "hacks" with little understanding of what happened, participating in a irresponsible brand of journalism that borders on alarmism. The problem is exacerbated in that people really do fall victim to Internet scams, even rather smart ones, which reporters dubiously dub "hacks."

One such report featured on ABC News concluded that two nuclear labs had been "hacked." The true story is a bit more entertaining and the reveals that there is no threat to the country's nuclear safety. Real threats such as concerted "hacks" conducted by the Chinese against the U.S. government are certainly a concern, but the only thing dangerous about the compromise at these labs is the stupidity of a few scientists and workers at the plants.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I could do this on a daily basis of course.

It's just an idea and I leave it with you guys, but I do intend to be a regularly participating member here at Free PC.

What do you reckon to creating a few more forums also?

Example:

Business Applications:

MS Office, Open Office etc.

Software:

All software related issues.

Multimedia:

CD/DVD Burning, Media Player etc.

Again I'm just throwing ideas around guys.

Wolfeymole,

Many thanks.. Yeah some good ideas.

I agree that FPH needs to be more than a forum..

Currently, i am in the process of writing out a Project Plan that will cover a lot of users suggestions/feedback, and hopefully at some point early in the new year we will start to see changes. I will certainly post the plan on the forums for users feedback.

There are so many ideas, yet not so much "manpower" or time..

I have some free time tonight - for a change! - so i think its about time to give my self a kick up the arse.

Many thanks for everyones on going support,

Mike

What would be a definite advantage on here would be a PM system, does the software support this?

At a brief glance it looks like vBulletin but I know it's not.

Hi Mike & Wolfey,I have tried 2 Browsers and can't see the 'Post new Topics' Heading that's supposed to be in the lower R/H corner.

EDIT. Found It.I am used to other Boards that display 'post new topic' in the threads themselves top and Bottom.

Yeah Wolfey, everything is fine.Checking the site out, and have a good feeling about it. Top Name for a PC help site and I think it has great potential. You and Mike are working hard to set these foundations, and with a lot of time and hard work, will be a very popular site in the future. If you Guys dont mind I will throw in a few ideas, from time to time, for you both to chew over.

Doug.
