New drivers added to XP service packs?

A quick curiosity question...

When Microsoft issues a service pack (eg SP3) does it include new drivers for devices that have

appeared since the original release of Windows, back in 2001?

Thanks

From what I can tell, only driver updates for processors are in there.

No. Moreover, you should get your drivers from the manufacturer of the

hardware it's for, not from Microsoft.

Thanks for your reply Ken,

Looking through Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device manager on my PC, there's a lot of them.

Are there any that I don't especially need to get from the mnaufacturer (eg disk drives).

For things like network card, sound card, and video card drivers I agree

that we should get those from the vendor. However MS should include the

latest drivers for IDE, SATA, SCSI, and SAS to make installation easier. MS

should also update the XP and Windows 2003 setup utility to be able to load

drivers from a thumb drive. Not alot of PCs and servers come with floppy

drives anymore.

Just my two cents.
